- Creative writing encompasses writing that ventures beyond the confines of usual professional, journalistic, academic, or technical literature. It's often characterized by a focus on the art of storytelling, the evolution of characters, and the utilization of literary devices, as well as drawing from diverse poetic traditions and poetics.

Steps in creative writings :

a. Prewriting (think and decide)

Understand the assignment (Research Papers or Essays), Choose a topic (Prewriting Strategies) and narrow it down, Think about your audience and your voice, Brainstorm ideas and create an outline (Outlines).

b. Research 

Find information sources (e.g., KU Libraries), Do thorough research, Evaluate your sources (primary vs. secondary sources), Create an outline to organize your research.

c. Drafting

Write sentences and paragraphs even if they are not perfect, Create a thesis statement with a main idea. See Thesis Statements, Put the information researched into the essay accurately without plagiarizing. Remember to include both in-text citations and a bibliographic page. d. Revising

Read what you have written again. See Revising Content and Revising Organization, Rearrange words, sentences, or paragraphs into a clear and logical order.

e. Editing and profreading
